Byron A. Stewart, Jr. was a very decorated and successful attorney, for 63 years. On March 14, 2015, Byron A. Stewart, Jr. passed away. His family here at Stewart, Cook, Constance & Minton miss him dearly.

Byron A. Stewart, Jr. practiced in the areas of probate administration, estate planning, and real estate law.   Byron received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in 1949 where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and his Juris doctorate degree from the University of Michigan in 1952, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.  He was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1952.  Byron was listed in Best Lawyers in America for 28 years (1983-2011), and was a member of the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (1988-2010).

Byron is the author of a number of publications, including Take Inventory!  Notes on Probate Inventory for the General Practitioner, Journal of The Missouri Bar, December 1965; Chapter Two, Dispensing with or Terminating Administration, Missouri Estate Administration, Third Edition, 1984 and Chapter 2, Dispensing with or Terminating Administration, I Mo. Estate Administration Fourth Edition 1999.

He was an avid and active member of the legal community, Eastern Jackson County Bar Association (Vice President 1965; President 1966-67); American Bar Association (Missouri Representative, Committee on Significant Decisions on Real Property Law, 1962-1966; 1975-1988; Missouri Representative, Committee on Significant Decisions on Real Property Law, 1962-1966; 1975-1988; Missouri Representative, Committee on Significant Probate and Trust Decisions, 1989-1996); the Missouri Bar (Member of Sub-Committees Drafting Missouri Probate Code 1980; Missouri Non Probate Transfers Law, 1990; Vice Chairman, Probate and Trust Committee, 1983-1984 and 1998-2000).
